Chemistry, Poetry

I opened my Chemistry book,
And blank pages welcomed me.
I’ve got no choice,
But to continue flipping through those dull, boring, empty sheets –
the reflection of my life, indeed!

Frustrated.
Why these blank pages seem endless?
Oh! Nevermind.
I guess it’s worth reading.
So I continued flipping through those dull, boring, empty sheets.

Chapter 1: Introduction to Chemistry
Deep sigh escaped my mouth.
Why this book tend to be so different from the others?
As my lips touched the first line,
There you appeared,
Right before my eyes.

Shifting my gaze from my book to you,
And back and forth,
I managed to finish the whole chapter.
Interesting book,
Just like you.
I’m tempted to flip for more.

Halfway, realizations hit me.
We’re two exact opposites,
But why am I the only one attracted?
It’s clearly stated that: Opposite attracts.
Oh, maybe because we’re humans,
And not magnets.

Who do I get to blame?
Is it heat, fuel or oxygen?
For igniting this feelings.
For lighting these fireworks of emotions,
That ended up bursting into the night sky.

But, what can I do?
When at first sight it was already clear,
That what I felt has a half-life of a hundred years.
I’m certain, it won’t corrode
Nor rust like iron.
The mere thought of it,
Is creeping me out.
Am I ready for this love radiation?

Chemistry.
Poetry.
I’ve tried fusing the two,
Just to weave a piece,
A poem about you.
Well in fact, I should have told you simply,
That you matter to me.
Even though you’re a noble gas,
Unreactive, inert,
And fine just by yourself.

Unfortunately, now I can’t dare open it.
Since you left,
I feel nothing but indifference.
Seeing it, the atomic fragments
Bond together to form a distant moleculic memory,
Of how I embraced oxidation,
When I get to see you everyday.
